The Olympics originally started in distant Grecian times, way before Christs mission on earth. Originally the games were held every eight years to coincide with the eight year intervals of Venus (worshipped as Baal, Ishtar, and Athene) aligning with the earth with respect to the sun. Later the frequency of the games increased to every 4 years. It's only natural for the Olympics to display paganism.
