As a successful author now for ten years, I historically tried to push my readers to Amazon, as that was the big cahuna...where all ebooks are sold right?

Wrong!

Due to the ugly censorship and de-platforming being foisted upon us, as Dylan told us, the times they are a-changin'.

THERE ARE GOOD ALTERNATIVES TO KINDLE and the Jeff Bezos type of censorship, which historically has been a cancer upon free societies and a hallmark of fascism.

Jeff Bezos makes no attempt to hide his contempt for 'wrong political thought' in his eyes. He uses the Washington Post as a political weapon against his enemies. Amazon blacklists and stops distribution for books which promote political though he does not like. The Washington Post takes money from the Chinese Communist Party, enough said.

Smashwords.com is a company that offers books in any e-book format, including Kindle, Nook, Kobo, Sonay, PDF or page by page download, Oyster, et cetera, et cetera. For authors, their distribution platform is enormous. For readers, their book offering is robust.

You simply buy the book, and choose which format to download, depending on the type of e-reader you have.

We've been with them for ten years and have nothing but good things to say!

We wrote Smashwords and asked about their adherence to free speech.

"We strongly value free expression and allow any content that does not violate our Terms of Service: https://www.smashwords.com/about/tos," is the comment we received back from management.

Of course, the terms of service does say you can be 'de-platformed' at any time. However, to date we have had no such problem.

So tell Jeff Bezos what you think of his censorship, and tell a friend about Smashwords! Send a book as an e-gift. Leave reviews on Smashwords!
